P discovers her Veggies!

We had a quiet Thanksgiving here in SL and P sported her "Baby's 1st Thanksgiving" outfit from Grandma. We have been crazy busy with the end of the semester and house hunting. P has two teeth on the top and two teeth on the bottom and she has been busy trying big people food. Mostly, she likes to gnaw on celery and carrot sticks--we think the cold helps with her back teething and she likes to grate them down with front teeth. We also included a pic of her zonked out in her carseat and one of Mommy and P checking out a peacock strutting at the zoo. We have a contract on a house and, assuming all goes well, we will be sending pics soon. yxshyr [that is from P, since she likes to bang the keyboard when Mommy's typing]. We can't believe she'll be 11 months old next week!!!

"Get your motor runnin'..."

P is really working her legs! She loves to push her push 'n' ride around our place and is standing up on her own for longer and longer periods of time. It is such a bitter sweet milestone: On one hand you are so proud and excited for her, but you realize that she will no longer need you to get from point A to B :( When she stumbles, puppy Emma goes to check on her--it's very cute. She is babbling a lot more, too. We'll post a video of "fireside chats with P" soon! We are looking forward to P's first Thanksgiving--we will be starting a new family tradition here in St. Louis. Happy tofurkey day to all!

New Pics of P

P's first Halloween was somewhat compromised by 74 degree weather in beautiful, balmy St. Louis. Yuck. The next person who tells me that global warming is a fairytale concocted by the Left is gonna get a kick in the arse. We really want the crisp, fall weather to speed its way because this Indian Summer stuff has got to go! So, enough about the weather. P wore a ladybug costume and looked super cute. But, it is fleece, so she couldn't wear it for too long. We went to a Halloween party last weekend and walked downtown tonight. We got a little candy, but mostly enjoyed the sites and sounds of other costumed folk. Here are a few pics of P in costume before we went out. P is also really getting into her toys and she seems to always want to hold things in both hands. This, of course, presents a problem when she is presented with a third, equally attractive, object. She gets pretty frustrated. She also doesn't want to let things out of her hands when she is trying to climb up on the furniture to stand. She is already an accomplished crawler/cruiser and she has now managed to stand up on her own without our help. She soon tumbles over, but she is doing a great job! She also recently discovered the joy of her new push 'n' ride. Oh, and we threw in a faux-hawk after-bath moment just for fun. Enjoy these new pics and leave a comment or two at your leisure!

P turns 9 MONTHS!!!

P turned 9 months this last week and she is really hitting some milestones! She crawls like a champ and pulls herself up on furniture to shimmy around. She takes uncertain steps when we hold her hands. She knows her name and knows "Mommy," "Daddy," and "Puppy Emma"--at least she turns in our direction when we're called by name. She has two bottom teeth and two top teeth and she enjoys chomping on frozen washcloths and her toys. She still prefers mom to solid foods except for using her new teeth to explore an apple on occasion. She has slept through the night for several months now and she has a pretty regular schedule. She has recently started exploring her vocal range with more syllabic babbles: "bababrrlblahbobbobbob."
We don't know who "Bob" is, but P gets excited saying it. Here are some recent pics of her being her usual jovial self.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

We wanted to buy this costume because it was so darn cute. But, since P is too young to trick-or-treat, we figured a quick photo-op for her first Halloween would suffice.

P's first visit to a pumpkin patch at the local farmer's market. She loved finding a pumpkin just her size.

Random P "Pic o' the Day": "Where's Waldo/P"

OK, so we may not post a pic every day, but we'll try to keep it current. We thought this was a cute one and it reminded us of the ET movie when ET hides in the closet with the stuffed animals. This isn't a Spielberg soundstage, but rather a plush bin at Big Lots. Hollywood here she comes...

P in "Wild Kingdom"

P meets Madonna--not that Madonna, this Madonna. Daddy doesn't think all babies get chunky legs. This painting proves that it's not only normal--it's Biblical.

P Otter and her Grandpa and Grandma Otter. That's her foot in the other hole (in case anyone was wondering).

P meets Goats at the Kiddie Zoo

We went to the SL Art Museum and Zoo today and P met some cool animals. She didn't really meet all the animals since she slept through most of the afternoon. But, she got up close, and personal, with some goat friends! After the next trip, I'm sure we'll have more pics to post. The grandparents were in town, so they had a good time, too!

Squirming and Squashing

Here are a couple of new events in P's life: crawling and fine cuisine. She has really started to move. I have been trying to upload a video to this site, but with no luck. So, I am posting a few pics instead. If you use your computer's scroll function pretty quickly, it is almost like she moves before your very eyes!

On another note, P hasn't really taken much to solid food. Still preferring Mommy's Milk, she occassionally humors us with a few bites of the latest fruit/veggie introduction. Here she is trying squash for the first time...mmmmmmmm good!

Some Random SL Pics

This post will be updated frequently as we explore the wacky and wonderful corners of our new town. We just had to stop and take a pic of the sign outside of the church: "A guy might enjoy dating an "easy" girl, but he wants to marry a pure one"--is it 2007 or 1950? I expected Wally and the Beav to come skipping down the block on their way to meet Eddie and Lumpy at the soda shop. Crazy stuff. Check out the kid with his skateboard in the gazebo next to the "No Skateboarding" sign. Thought that was funny. Also, has "Hip Hop H20" appeared on your market shelves, yet? No? Well, expect it soon! Like the van says: "It's the Hippest Water You'll Ever Drink." Lots of variety here in the SL area! From '50s suburbia with white picket fences to the urban and progressive city center. More pics to follow...

Our 1st Cardinal's Game

We went to our first Cardinals game last night! The Cards took on the Phillies (too bad A, G, and M couldn't be there, too). We had cool seats (some might call them the cheap seats) at the tippy-top of the stadium. We had a great view of the SL skyline and the park. P really seemed to enjoy the atmosphere: the lights, the chants, the music, the "kiss cam" and the folks shouting "Peanuts! Fresh Roasted Peanuts!" She smiled at everyone and made a lot of new friends. It was a beautiful, clear night and we had a good time. Enjoy the pics!

More Pics of P

P turned 8 months old this week. Here are some more pics of our little peanut! We like her cheeky, pursed lip pic--she sure has developed a personality. R tried his I-Pod on her and she seemed to like the tunes! She also really loves playing in her Jumperoo! Lately, she has been getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth--it is only a matter of time before our little girl's in motion. Emma better watch out! We'll post some pre-crawling pics, soon.
